NFL Gambling

You don't need to be a genius to understand how the NFL gambling process works. There are so many different ways to gamble on the NFL now a days, at times it can be confusing for novice gamblers. Currently you can bet against the NFL betting line, the total, do a parlay, a teaser, or even bet on team or player propositions. In this NFL gambling article we are going to focus on straight bets for the sides of NFL games.

A straight bet is when you place a wager on the point spread or total of a game. Most sports books or bookies use the odds of -110 for all straight bets. This means that you must lay $110 to win $100 for any NFL gambling bet you make. Now by no means do you have to wager $110 on the game, this is just the base formula the book uses. You could lay $55 to win 50, $22 to win $20, $11 to $10 etc. etc. We will use this example below to help clarify a typical straight bet on the side of a NFL game.

Minnesota -4
Detroit +4

Let's say you wager $110 to win $100 on Minnesota -4 over Detroit. If Minnesota beats Detroit by more than 4 points you win $100 plus the $110 you originally put up. If Minnesota loses or doesn't win by more than 4 points your $110 wager is lost. If Minnesota wins by exactly 4 the wager is considered a push and your $110 is returned to the bettor. For more information on the NFL point spread check out our NFL Betting article.

Getting back to NFL gambling that is exactly how it works. Seems easy enough right? Well unfortunately NFL gambling may be easy to understand but it is very difficult to win money long term. You must pick approximately 53% winners over the course of a season to be up once the season is over. 98% of people that gamble on the NFL cannot achieve this break even percentage and will end up losing money long term.

The good news is if you can pick just 55% winners you will lead yourself to incredible amounts of wealth if you gamble on the NFL. Some more good news is our NFL handicappers have picked over 60% winners in their lifetime and offer their winning selections to you the visitor of the site. If you are a beginning bettor or just don't have the time to handicap the NFL but would like to do some NFL gambling this season we invite you to check out our NFL Picks page.
